Focusing on one pair is justified only if you are scalping and need to pay a lot of attention to second-to-second price changes. Otherwise - trade on as many currency pairs as you can, to get as much trading opportunities as you can.

There are plenty of software platforms available on the internet it is just a matter of finding one that suits you and has the tools to fit in with your trading style.
